It wasn't intended to be me biting your head off- you are right, you were just offereing an opinion. It's just hard to convey tone over the internet, and I didn't do a very good job of it last night. Sorry once again.
Something else I thought of- the SSA list is based only on American data, whereas ours comes from various places across the globe. So that affects it too, I guess- I hadn't thoguht of that. I'll make note of both these issues when I post the results so people can take them into account.
Interesting also to hear how your doing it. My method is pen and paper- I write down the names in a big long list, but each name is written down only once. If it appears again, I go back an dput a mark next to it. If it's a different spelling, I also record that. I'd already planned to put the different spellings in my results eg if Caitlin makes the top name:
1) Caitlin (7 votes) Caitlin (3), Kaitlyn (2) Katelynn (1), Katilin (1)
Or something along those lines. Anyway, thanks for your opinions and suggestions. I better get back to these names.
