I personally really dislike it, but I don't know why. I prefer Nathan although it's not a favourite.

It's a nice, elegant name. I used not to like it so much but it's grown a lot on me, and I like the slightly New England Puritan connotations. I think the reason why most Nathaniel's go by nns is because the name is so long.

I like it. It's masculine and somewhat striking too. I like the name in full the best, without all the nn's.

I really loathe Nathaniel. My personal opinion.

But yes, there are plenty of people who have a full version of a name (Nathaniel, William, Nicholas, Christopher, Timothy, etc.) that don't go by any nns. No nn is a MUST with a name unless you want it to be.

I have never liked it and really can't see the appeal that's surrounding it these days. Each to their own.

I don't like Nathan. Nat is a girl's nn to me as I know quite a few Natashas and Natalies with Nat as a nn. Nate is bareable. If you want them to be called just Nathaniel then always call him that; and if he wants to only go by it he'd tell people to just call him that. People would get the picture and call him by his full name.

I love it, no nns. I hate Nat and Nate, Nathaniel is such a wonderful name.

I love Nathaniel, but don't care for any nicknames for it, especially Nate (which is one of my least favorite [nick]names altogether).

I love Nathaniel. One of the hardest things about settling on Noah as my son's name was knowing I was giving up Nathaniel. (I won't use repeating first initials for sibs)

Nathaniel really does seem to beg for a nn. Not a problem for me, since I love Nate, but if you were willing to correct people who may try to shorten it, I think you could use Nathaniel in full.

I love Nathaniel in its full version with no nn's. It's mainly because of The Bartimaeus Trilogy, I'll have to admit.

I know a Nathaniel! And he actually goes by his full name. If you don't want the nn Nate or Nathan, just make it clear to everyone that the kids name is Nathaniel and not Nate or Nathan.

Adore it. Nathaniel is one of my top names. I dislike Nate, Nathan, and Niel. I can't imagine a Nathaniel without a nn either, unfortunately, which is why I'm not 100% sure I'll use it. I like Nat, but it's not nearly as wondeful as Nathaniel and I don't know if it would be worth using if he went by nn Nat most of the time!

I love Nathaniel, especially with the nn Nate.
I also knew a Nathaniel, who went by the full version, Nat, or Nattykins (no clue on that one).
