Petrova
I recently asked about Petrova on the Facts boards after long wondering its meaning (I love the novel Ballet Shoes) and found it was from the surname Petrov (son of Peter). Does this make it too surnamey? I'm normally against surnames without it being a family name, so I just wonder if using this would be slightly hypocritical. Maybe I just worry too much :)
WDYT of the name in general?

I don't like surnames as first names. Petra is a nice alternative.
Petrova is nice and while I don't think it's too surnamey, I do vastly prefer Petra..it's one of my favorites: ) .
I'm not sure how to pronounce it, but it looks pretty. I don't think it's too surnamey.
OT: I love Ballet Shoes, too.

I don't mind Petrova and don't find it too surnamey. I do prefer Petronella, though. :)

I don't like it at all. It is a feminine surname, not a first name. Do you like Petra?
Yes, it makes it much too surnamey. I would cringe if I met a little Petrova. Please don't use it as a first name.
Petra is gorgeous, though.
