Re: Marcella & Cyrilla
in reply to a message by TJones
I generally don't let meanings get in the way of a name if it has positive images / associations for me. (Did I just say that on an etymological site?)
Marcella makes me think of ancient Rome - always a fun proposition. Marcella has a beautiful sound and is one of those buried treasures waiting to be rediscovered. Love it.
Marcella Eve
Marcella June (variant of another Roman name, Juno / Junia)
Marcella Cruz
Marcella Ruby
Marcella Zoe
Marcella Kay
Marcella Pilar
Marcella Daphne
Marcella Rose
Cyrilla doesn't have the bgreatest sound to my ears. Plus, it makes me think of a disease / medical condition. Perhaps I'm thinking of cillia (biology, anyone?) Whatever the reason, I don't have happy images in my head with Cyrilla. The meaning doesn't even come into the equation for me. But it is a feminine classic and deserves some attention:
Cyrilla Mary
Cyrilla Jane
Cyrilla Petra
Cyrilla Tess (a little hissy?)
Cyrilla Pearl
Cyrilla Inez
Cyrilla Phoebe
Cyrilla Helen
Good luck!
