Josephine...
My sister is pregnant and thinking of naming her baby Josephine- she wants to call her Joey or Joa. I like Josephine but I've never heard of a girl Joey and I've never heard of a Joa anything! I was trying to convince her to go with Josephina/ Josefina- with a nick name of Fina- or even Josie- that just makes more sense to me. What do you all think?

Joey was a name of a girl on Dawson's Creek played by Katie Holmes. I adored her character. Her first name was actually Josephine, as well.
I love Josephine. It is so classy. I would call my girl Joey, Effie, or Josie. Joey kind of goes with the whole Chloe & Zoey thing, so I don't think that it would be a problem.

I have a Josephine myself, so of course I think your sister has great taste! I think Joey is a hideous nickname for a girl, nothing cute or sexy about Joey at all. Josie is adorable, Jojo's alright (I call my youngest cousin Joseph; Jojo, so it's all boy to me). I call my Josephine by her full name most of the time (I just adore saying her name) and occasionally Fifi, because she's a serious Diva girl. Even Sophie as a nickname isn't awful
Joa's just...odd but Joey's awful!

Your sister has great taste! Josephine is one of my favorite names. I'm not too fond of Joey as a nickname, but that's only because--and I'm slightly embarrassed to admit to knowing this--Katie Holmes's irritating character on Dawson's Creek was Josephine nn Joey. Josie is cute, as is Jodie, although the latter is not entirely intuitive.

Joey isn't my favorite nn for a girl. But Josephine is so gorgeous that it's worth the nn Joey or Jo. By the way, I once saw someone suggest Sophie as a nn for Josephine and it stuck with me. All of the letters of Sophie are contained within Josephine. It's a stretch, but still a possibility. Another one is Jae (= J).
I really like Josephine, but all the possible nn's turn me off to it. Would she consider just sticking with the full name?
I love Josephine. Josephina and Josefina are nmsaa.
Joey would not be my favortie nn for Josephine--I like Josie and Posy--but it's not all that unusual. The only Josephine I've met went by Joey. (Wasn't Joey from "Dawson's Creek" a Josephine, too?) I'm with you on Joa; I don't like it at all. Fina is the name of a gas station for me, so I much prefer Joey.

I love Josephine, but will probably never use it because my favorite girl's name is Jocelyn and that will probably be DD#1's name, and Josephine sounds really similar. I like the nn Joey a lot. I have heard of female Joeys and I think it is really cute. One of the characters on Dawson's Creek was a girl named Joey I think. I don't like Joa though. I like Josie as a nn too. I don't like Josephina though, it's too frilly imo.
