Horatio?
I'm sorry about the influx of posts on my part, especially when I'm only asking about one name, but I'm stuck. I am really desperate for boys' names; my favorite's currently Atticus, but I'm having a hard time coming up with a MN for it, as well as for all of the names I like...Which brings us to Horatio. I'm currently reading Hamlet, and liking the character well enough. I have to admit that the sound of the name is almost ugly to my ears, but there's something about it that I love. I kind of have to force myself to not think of the CSI: Miami character... but regardless, it's on my mind right now. I guess this is the long-winded way to simply ask: what do you think?(And thanks in advance, guys. Y'all have been super-helpful.)

Love Horatio! My associations are, in order: Hornblower, Sanz and Shakespeare and none of those partictularly turn me off. I'd use Horatio, if I could get my other half into him; Horatio Bede comes to mind but Atticus Horatio sounds pretty cool himself!

I absolutely love the name Horatio, although I don't think I'd ever use it. I first discovered it in Noel Streatfield's "Thursday's Child", a childrens' book which contains the sibset Lavinia, Peter and Horatio. So to me Horatio has always been a blonde-curled, chubby-kneed Victorian boy.I think it's usable.

I absolutely love it, though quite not as much as I once did. I find CSI and most similar shows deathly boring, so I can't picture the Horatio in the show at all--I immediately think of Horatio of Hamlet and Horatio Hornblower (the reason I started loving it in the first place--I love the books and miniseries). If I had a Horatio, I'd be likely to call him Ray, and his middle name might be Kolbe after St. Maximilian.Array

This is all I can think of when I hear Horatio : ) Can't say I like the name at all. I always wonder what it would be shortened to. I like Atticus though.

I absolutely love Horatio. This is for several reasons. 1) The character Horatio Hornblower that is now a TV series from A&E - played by the dashing Ioan Gruffudd. 2) Admiral Horatio Nelson. 3) The name is just plain awesome. I think that it sounds beautiful. Atticus Horatio goes very well. : )

Sanz. From SNL and such. Here's a visual if you'd like: http://www.iowest.com/photos/alumni/data/horatio_sanz.jpgHe's really funny and I have nothing against him, but there's just no way I'd be able to shake that association, lol. I don't mind someone else using it, if it works for you - it's just not for me. ;)
