Cruz?
I'm never going to use it and I know that the Beckham association is strong but what do you think of the name Cruz?

I like its meaning and sound but prefer it as a mn and on a girl. I agree with you on the Beckham association being quite strong. When I hear the name, I think of them. However, I don't think it should stop anyone from using it.

I do kind of like it, but probably only as a mn, on a boy or girl. Penelope Cruz feminizes it for me.
And I agree with Lillian.

I don't find the Beckham association particularly strongbut then I live in south Texas, which Mexico is attempting to annex by default occupation. So I meet real life Cruz's with regularity, and I assure you none of them are blond (though they probably all play soccer ;p).I really love this name for its meaning. (Because of its meaning, I do not find either Cruise or Crews to be an acceptable substitute, btw.) It's in its own little category on my PNL, with Santiago, Diego and Falcón, of Spanish male names I'm in love with.I like Cruz Falcón particularly well for familial associations, as well as rhthym. Being partially of Spanish (and Catholic) origin, and liking Spanish names generally, I have some Spanish mn suggestions.Cruz Antonio
Cruz Benito
Cruz Clemente
Cruz Domingo (also Cruz Dominic)
Cruz Emiliano
Cruz Epifanio
Cruz Esteban
Cruz Federico
Cruz Feliciano
Cruz Ignacio (I like this a lot)
Cruz Jerónimo (also this one)
Cruz Joaquín
Cruz Luciano
Cruz Lucio (this is really good)
Cruz Martín
Cruz Martirio

Crews is a surname in my family, and I'm thinking of using it someday (as a middle name), and had toyed around with the idea of spelling it Cruise or Cruz, but I think if I used it I'd stick with the family spelling... so obviously the Beckham influence wouldn't really be a bother in my case. I'm not a fan of the Cruz spelling just becuase it's always seemed kind of harsh to me. The name itself is fine, though.

I love it. I used to think of it as a girl's name because the word "cruz" is feminine in Spanish, but now I feel that it's almost all boy. If the Beckham association is too strong, you could use Cruise. It's not the same, I know, and sounds a bit tryndee, but it's pronounced similarly and the change in spelling would veil the name's Beckham influence.

Someone I know has this surname, so I consider this a surname, not a first name. I'm not a big fan of surnames as first names generally. *strongly hopes that this doesn't become popular for girls*

I love it enough to not care about the Beckham association. If I used it, it would probably be as a mn though.
