Simon, Hector, or Rudolph?
I am agonizing with these three. I can't decide which is my top FN. The combos aren't particularly relevant, because they wouldn't use them much in real life anyway, and when/if I do ever have a son I'm not going to name him based on how good my combo is. (In any case, I'll rework it until it's excellent :))
I love Simon, but the -n boys' trend worries me slightly. If it gets trendy I'll be able to drop it, but it's still kind of unpopular now and I can't decide whether I want to contribute another -n kid to the population or not. What do you guys think?
Hector I just love, it's so clean and nice. He'd be Hector, not Heck or anything.
Rudolph would probably be pretty evenly split between Rudolph and Rudy.
I put up a poll, but I think it's a different crowd that votes on them, and I think I value you guys' opinions slightly more. So, which would you rather meet: Simon, Hector, or Rudolph/Rudy? TIA.

Simon
This is a tough one. I like each of the names for different reasons. I like Simon because it's my SO's middle name. I like Hector because of it's history. Rudolph was my great grandpa's name, so I have close ties to that as well. While I love Simon and it would be something I'd use, I would be tickled to see Rudolph on a kid.
I have a thing for Hector because I am into Mythology right now.
So Hector is good, Also I like the nn Tory for a boy, My friend likes Victor, Torrence is alright, but I keep thinking about Kirsten Dunst's character on bring it on movie. Sorry I am rambling.
I like simon too, I wouldn't let the ending bother you,
Rudolph is my least fave, I mean it's alright, it's just not my thing . I keep hearing Rudolph the red nose reindeer song.

I don't really like any of them that much but If I had to choose it would probably be Simon.
Rudolph!
Rudolph // Rudy! I'd love to meet one so much. I plan on using it for my own son. (Which btw thanks for your post in my Rudolf thread earlier. You were very helpful) Simon would be my second choice. I love it as well, but not nearly as much. Hector is nice but nms. I associate it with a character in a book that was annoying, and the first syllable throws me off a bit. I think I'd prefer something more like Victor. But still, either of those three names would be good. Especially Rudolph! :-D

Rudolph makes me think of Rudolph Guiliani, former mayor of NYC and American presidential hopeful. I do not like him or his name.
I would be torn over the other two, though. I prefer Simon just for sound, but I do think both are handsome and would love to meet a little one of either.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Giuliani. :/
I like Simon best.
Yeah, Rudolph Valentino. Apparently he was extremely good-looking, although all the pictures of him on google image search are fuzzy and I've never seen him in a movie.
There's also http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crown_Prince_Rudolf this man, whom I love, and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolf_I, whom I've always imagined as the first Habsburg emperor. I may be wrong though. And then there's the hrod- root, so central in our family naming tradition, and the -wulf/-dolf ending, which would delight my mother so much, because she feels some kind of spiritual connection to wolves.

I don't care for Rudolph and am lukewarm on Rudy and Hector. I like Simon well enough, though. I think even in a sea of -n names, I wouldn't lump Simon in with them. It'd be like throwing Peter in with occupational names ending in -er: it might have superficial similarities, but the impression it makes just isn't the same.
On a side note, have you ever give thought to Nestor? When Nestor or Hector come up, one will usually remind me of the other.
