1. I adore Susanna (my preferred spelling). BTW, it's my understanding that "Oh! Susanna" is also spelled this way after Stephen Foster's sister, Susanna. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
2. Mns: I've given this lots of thought since Susanna is one of my favorites. My faves are: Charlotte, Juliet and Margaret. I've also considered Elizabeth Susanna with the nn Lily since Lily is a traditional nick for Elizabeth and Susanna means 'lily.'
3. Just about any classic name would flow nicely with Susannah: William, Oliver, Henry, James, Charlotte, Jane, Abigail, Eve ... My dds are Katherine, Victoria and Anna and I would consider Susanna (as a mn only) for another dd.
Re: Shoshannah, I don't think you'd have to be Jewish to pull it off, however, it's a name that I just don't find attractive. I want to like it because I love the way it's written (something about the two sh's puts me off).
