Rory

I love Rory, and I used to think it needed a 'longer' name but I definitely feel it can stand on its own. I don't really see it as a natural nn for Richard (which isn't my favorite name in general; it's just dull to me) but I don't see why not. But if you don't love Richard, I wouldn't suggest using it as a full name because you feel Rory should be a nn. If nothing else, I think Rordan is the best name in which Rory could be a nn, but like I said before, just plain Rory is better. :)
Rory is a girl to me
Sorry but "ewww"
While I think Rory can stand on it's own, it could also be a nice nickname for Richard. I can see the connection, and I don't think it's a stretch.
Richard is just fine, and I love Rory. I don't like several other nicknames for Richard (Rich, Rick, Dick, etc.), so if I had to pick a nickname for Richard, it would be something along similar lines.

I think Rory should stand on it's own. (I like it but I prefer Ruairí) Richard to Rory is too much of a jump for me.
To be honest I don't understand the need to have a "complete" name for Rory - does it sound very nick-namey to non-Irish ears? Having said that I have seen it used as a nn for Roderick in Ireland:)

I don't think it's very workable. I don't know if Rory is traditionally a nn for Richard, but I think that even if it is, it's a huge stretch. It woul be like naming a boy William and trying to use Wayne as a nn.
Yeah, you do have a point. My name's Heather and along those lines my nn could be Haley. :-/
