I love Ashley on a boy. I think it's much, MUCH better on a boy than a girl. If I decide to go with double middle names for my kids, I'll probably use Ashley as one middle name for a boy. That way, if he's absolutely totally embarrassed by it, he can just give people his other middle name.

Here in Australia Ashley is pretty much used almost equally for males and females (probably slightly more used for females) its so handsome!

I love it for a boy, but it was so overused on girls for so long that I don't think it would be wise to use it as a fn, at least not in the U.S. Which is a shame. :(

I like Ashley for a boy. It's not a favourite of mine, but it has it's charm. I think it's very handsome.

I know four male Ashleys, but it is more of a boys name in the UK. I personally neither like or dislike the name, although I do prefer it on a boy :)

I've only ever known Ashley on a boy, with the exception of one Ashleigh. But then again I am on the UK. I know three or four male Ashley's so I wouldn't think it weird at all.

I don't like the name Ashley in general. I do truthfully think it sounds more feminine than masculine, but only because I've met countless female Ashley's and never a male Ashley. I wouldn't use this on a boy, I'd use Asher or Addison. I hate it for a girl, but if I had to use it, I'd spell it Ashlie.

Ashley tends to be used for boys more than girls here in England anyway so it wouldn't be too weird.

Oh, boy...
Let me start by saying that I love, LOVE that name for a boy. If I could, I would name my first, second and third sons Ashley- not literally of course. But today this name is unuseable for boys, for no other reason than that every kid ages five and up will say "But thats a GIRLS name, and you're a BOY." In the States, at least. I don't know if this can be used in other countries.
In the meantime I am eagerly awaiting for the tides to turn.
If you're going to use it, you are braver than I am. It is lovely, but one must "think of the children."

I'm loving Ashley for a boy. On a girl it sounds so common and out-dated, but on a boy it seems revitalised. I wish it was more acceptable to name a boy Ashley. :( It's so handsome.

I see what you mean. Personally, I prefer it for a girl, since my sister's name is Ashley, but it could still be good.

It was a male name to start with, right? It's not my style, but it does sound very suitable for a boy to me, possibly because the first time I encountered it is in "Gone with the Wind"
