Gah!
I was just about to say "What a handsome name! Sam and Alexis are both great names, and they sound nice together". Then I realized they had a daughter, not a son. I'm totally not diggin' Sam Alexis for a girl. It's just too masculine. Sam is an OK nn for Samantha, Samara, Samuela etc. but as stand-alone name it's too masculine for a girl, IMO. And I really dislike Alexis on a girl because I love it so much for a boy. I'd hate to see it turning strictly feminine.

For me, Alexis is an extremely feminine name. I know five girl's named Alexis, all quite feminine. The only way I see this on a boy, is if he were obviously from Russia or a Slavic country where Alexis is used for males more often.
