Jensen? A Girl? Oh man... It's not funny!

I have Jensen for a boy. LOVE IT ONLY on a BOY.

Too masculine for my taste. A few girls where I live are named this.

Jensen is a very common Danish surname, meaning "Jens' son". It sounds really ugly and unfeminine in my ears. I don't understand this American fondness of surnames as fn.

But I guess it is only logical, since also Madison, Addison, Emerson etc. are considered as fn.

If names are just letters and sounds, then Jensen SOUNDS ok.

I sometimes really want to whack these parents upside their heads! It's a surname, and if it *must* be used, then it should only be used for a boy. If it's a family surname, then I'd only prefer it as a middle name for a boy or a girl then (and only for a girl if it's a family surname).

So, they named their baby girl after the most common danish surname, which means "Son of Jens"? I feel sorry for this poor, defenceless child. I can't come to think of anyone I know (Danes), who wouldn't find this first name extremly ridiculous.

It may be a rude prejudice, but Jensen on a girl looks kind of illiterate to me. On the other hand I think I could accept the name if it had been on a boy. What bothers me most is the, to me, very obvious wrong usage of the name.

If her parents thought naming her "Jensen" would make her special, they're wrong. Jensen is a very boring name ..

I know a five year old, really, really blonde haired little girl named Jensen. I dont know if I would ever use it, but it is okay I guess. Jensen Olivia seems to really stand out in my mind.

For a girl, it's icky - it's a surname, it means Son of Jens, and I bet they're not pronouncing it properly either!

Don't like it at all. Just not my style. Sounds way too much like a surname and I really don't like it for a girl. When I read it I thought it was going to be for a boy.

I think it's a surname, and as a first name for a girl I think it is dreadful. It just sounds wrong to me.
