Calypso
Yes, I am way too obsessed with the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but hey. Anyway, what do you think of the name 'Calypso?' I really, really like it. Does anyone have any idea of a sibset it could fit in. I'm drawing a complete blank on this one.

I just found the name Baila [BYE-la](for a girl) the other day. It means "dance" in Spanish, and though I dont think it is really a Spanish name, I think it is a very pretty word name with music associations. Calypso makes me think of the music and so that made me think of the name Baila as a possible sister. WDYT?

Okay, I'm glad I'm not the only person obsessed with POTC3.I rather liked the name Calypso. Maybe, Calypso and Raine or Calypso and Orion? I dunno. I LOVE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN AT WORLDS END!Sorry, just had to do that!

Can I PM you about Pirates mI don't think it would be too polite to hold an in depth POTC convo on the public boards, savvy?

My first thought is of the musical style. [ed]...But I'm a music person and I really like calypso. Good stuff--if you want an interesting tune, pick up "Rum and Coca-Cola" by Lord Invader. The cover by the Andrews Sisters is good, too, but the lyrics are toned down in that one. Or, if you want an example of calypso that you would recognize, Harry Belafonte's "Banana Boat Song" will do the trick--you know, the "Day-o! Daylight coming, me wanna go home!" song in Beetlejuice. That's calypso, too. There also used to be an ice cream treat called a calypso--it was my favourite to get at the zoo.All the same, I like the name, though I prefer Callisto. I remember using Calypso for a character once, years ago. She was, unsurprisingly, a dancer.I don't really believe all that much in fitting names together like end tables and sofa cushions, so I can't help you with sibsets.ArrayETA: Kalinda / Calinda is another Trinidadian musical style, though most people would never know it. How about that for a sibling? :)

I love it, but it's a little "out there", and plus, everyone will know you're an obsessed Pirates fan ;) (but really, what's so bad about that? :D)
Overall, though, I think it's more suited for a pet. Like a horse or something. Or maybe a goddess... Lol.
