Opinions on Ellis?
I'm not sure what combo I'd use it with, or what name I'd "replace" but I'm liking Ellis more & more. As an added bonus, I feel I can justify Ellis being named after my mom and my mother-in-law (Elsie & Phyllis).

I like it very much, but only for a boy.

I prefer it on a boy, but I can handle it on a girl. It's definitely rare, and it's a nice alternative to Ella.

Ellis is a really good name. Its strong, and not very common. It's cool that you can use both your mom and mother in laws names to make it too.

I've really been liking Ellis lately myself and have been thinking how well it would fit on a boy today. I cound Ellis amoung a group of names I always used to think of as old-man sounding (like Owen, Otto, Henry, Harry, Leo, Miles, Job, Abel) and are now gaining a youthful sound to me.
So I really think Ellis would deffinately work for a little boy now, either as a fn or a mn it's very cute, but with a spunky masculine edge. Also it's marvelous that you could use Ellis to honor a son's grandmothers, I think that it would already honor Elsie but to also have that -lis- from Phyllis, to so clearly honor both mothers by using the first letters of the one and the last letters of the other without having to switch any letters is so wonderful! I think you should deffinately use it! :)

It's nice, and I like how it honors the moms. Would you use it for a boy or girl? I think I prefer it for a girl, but that might be because I adore Elliot for a boy, and they're too close that way. I also like Hollis for a girl.

I like Ellis. It has a very sophisticated air about it. It's pretty clever to use it to honour both your mom and mil, no hurt feelings and a cute little name.
Were you looking for combos with it as a fn or mn?Peter Ellis
David Ellis
John Ellis
Ellis Vincent
Ellis Charles
Ellis Arthur

I can't decide!I think which combo I use, though, will depend on what kids I already have when Mr. Ellis comes along.
