Marley?
I'd never use it but what do you think of Marley?

I like the sound of it. Sometimes I think I like it better for a boy and other times I think I like it better for a girl. I wouldn't use it though, I'm not a Bob Marley fan and that connection to the name is too strong imo.

I love it and would definitely use it but only for a girl. I love Bob Marley and the Charles Dickens association really doesn't bother me either. I actually think after reading the book, is where I started to like the name to begin with.

same here, except I like for a boy

Marley was as dead as a doornailThat's my first thought. Also, "Marley and Me" the story about the people with the terribly behaved dog. I just don't like it much.

I have all of the associations mentioned as well, ghost, dog, and musician. Although my next door neighbor is named Bob Marley, no relation to the famous one.
I think Marley is pretty cute on a girl. It's kind of a funky twist on Mary and Carly. Anyway, I like it. I don't think it would stand up well on a boy these days, though.

I'd never use it eitherbut I do like it. It makes me think of Bob Marley, and that's the good and the bad behind it. It's good because I think Bob Marley was incredible, musically and otherwise. But the downside is that white middle Americans really latching on to Bob Marley kind of annoys me. Taking the name at face value and ignoring the first jump my mind makes, I really like it as a female name. It has a bit of an interesting edge to it and is familiar in a way that I find pleasantly attractive.

I like it. Mike & I named our dog Marley (we hadn't heard of the book Marley & Me at the time). We got Marley right before Christmas and all our older relatives asked if we named him after the Dickens's character. All our friends asked if he was named for Bob Marley (well one said Ziggy). I could never use it for a kid either.

I don't mind it, but it's not particularly attractive.I dislike it a lot for a girl, because at the moment, I know a seriously awful Marly. :(Array
