Josephine, Seraphine or Delphine?
I am having a "-phine" stage, and these are three that seem to be quite popular on BtN. There's classic and popular Josephine, pretty and poetic Seraphine, and, for botany lovers, the french form of Delphinium, Delphine.
Which is your favorite? middle? least? For me:1. Seraphine- It's just beautiful, frankly.
2. Delphine- Yes, it reminds me of Delphine LaLaurie, but I love delphiniums, and it's dainty and cute.
3. Josephine- Pretty? Yes. Classic? Yes. My favorite? No. I love it, but find it somewhat overused (at least out where I live), and I always see Joseph first.Thoughts? Opinions? Et cetera, et cetera?

Definitely Seraphine, which is stunning and very unusual. I don't mind Josephine but it's a little boring and stuffy, and I don't find the sound attractive.I hate Delphine, sorry.

Josephine and SeraphineAre my favorites, I can't choose between them. I prefer the Serafina form though.

Josephine...Josephine is the only one I would actually consider using, though there is also a family connection for me. It's so lovely, classic, traditional, and it's definitely not overused here as I have never heard it on anyone under the age of fifty. It's rising in popularity in the U.S., but it's still not common here. It's a rare male-turned-female name that I actually like, as I can't stand Roberta, Georgina, Henrietta, Wilhelmina, etc.
Seraphine is simply lovely, but I would only consider using as a mn. As someone else said, it seems a little heavy (and maybe pretentious? like a dressed-up version of Sarah, even if it's not) for a fn.
Delphine is just what you said, dainty and cute. I see it more for a little girl than an adult. Yet it's classic enough that it would probably mature just fine. Very sweet and pretty, and if you like it, go for it. I certainly don't automatically think of Delphine LaLaurie, and it didn't occur to me until you mentioned it.

Delphine and then....Seraphine and Josephine. In that order.Delphine for the strange reason, that it reminds me of 'dolphin', which is my fave animal at sea. Odd I know, but that is me. (And the Danish word for dolphin is 'delfin', so it could also have some sort of factor into the reason.) I chose Josephine as the last, because it's on our top 50 list for popular girls names here in Denmark and being a fan of unusual names, I'm not much of a fan of it.

It reminds me of Dolphin, too.

SeraphineThat's the only one I'd seriously consider for my own child one day. I think Delphine is nice as a mn only, and Josephine is nice for either fn or mn, although I prefer it as a mn.

Seraphine is my favouriteI love Delphine too. I think both of these names sound very feminine and pretty. I just agree with you on Josephine, its a little overused for my liking and like you, I just see Joseph first.

I LOVE Josephine! I've considered using it on all 4 of my girls. It's pretty, gorgeous, classic - everything I look for in a name.Seraphine is such a pretty and simple name. I like Seraphina as well, but prefer Seraphine. Delphine reminds me of dolphins too much, lol, don't ask me why!

I'm noit really keen on names ending in "phine". I like Seraphine the best, Josephine is just horrible imo.

For a first name, probably either Josephine or Delphine - I don't really like either of them, but Josie or Posey and Del are sweet nicknames. Seraphine is very nice, but I just personally think it's a little 'heavy' for a first name. It would make a really nice middle name, though.

Delphine is a favorite of mine. It's for me, one of those names that has been on my list for years and years and I swear it's only recently I'm seeing it all the time on this site. It used to get almost universal criticism. LOL. Oh well, it's still a crazy and weird name for non-namers so it's all good. Seraphine is ok. It's sort of a pretentious version of Sara imo though.Josephine - I've always found frumpy and plain. I have no good explination for that.

Exactly! I've always felt that way about Delphine, but because of all the criticism I moved it to #2! Oh, that's exactly how I feel. Delphine and Seraphine are almost tied honestly, and Delphine has been slowly moving up the ranks. It'll probably beat Seraphine soon.
Lol.
