Mavourneen might very well sound ridiculous to someone who is actually Irish, but since I'm not, it still flies as a name for me. :-) Equivalents to its sentiment that I'm familiar with (Darling,
Honey, etc) are things that I'd find absolutely ridiculous as names, so while I'll say that I like
Mavourneen very much for its sound, I have to also mention that I don't generally like terms of endearment as 'real' names.
Cathal I just like a lot.
Cathal Lawrence is a combo I was into for a while and still like.
