What's your favorite Irish name?
It's St. Patrick's day and I was just wondering what your favorite Irish name was? There are so many so if you could just limit yourself to four or five for each gender that would be sweet. And don't forget to comment on other's favorites! :)
Mine:
Ciaran (Kieran)
Aodhan (Aidan)
Keegan
Cian
Eithne (Enna / Enya)
Aine (Anya)

By the way, I don't know if the names in brackets next to your faves are meant to be pronunciations or the non-Irish version of the names, but Aoife and Aine aren't pronounced like Eva or Anya, nor are they related to those names in any way.

Cathal and Mavourneen
Mavourneen might very well sound ridiculous to someone who is actually Irish, but since I'm not, it still flies as a name for me. :-) Equivalents to its sentiment that I'm familiar with (Darling, Honey, etc) are things that I'd find absolutely ridiculous as names, so while I'll say that I like Mavourneen very much for its sound, I have to also mention that I don't generally like terms of endearment as 'real' names.
Cathal I just like a lot. Cathal Lawrence is a combo I was into for a while and still like.
Edited to add that I also like, to varying degrees and with no consistency as to whether they're spelled the original or the Anglicized way:
Faolan
Phelim
Proinsias
Odhran
Meallan
Fidelma
Bronach
Sibeal, sort of

Mavourneen! I've suggested Mavourneen before as a whimsical mn. It does have a gorgeous sound and a sweet meaning. But I can't see it as a fn for a person. It would make a great fn for a pet.
Cathal is terrific. Since you're not Irish, may I point out one thing about it? The "t" is silent. It's pronounced, "CA (as in cat) - hill." You probably already know that, but I just wanted to make sure.

Ooh, I'd forgotten Sibeal, very pretty.
