Eli is usually said which a long e, EE-lie (rhyming with see and buy). I would say Elle like the letter L and Ellie as rhyming with bell and see, so I don't really get the connection.Do you really pronounce Eli, Ellie and Elle the same?

My daughter's name is Elizabeth and her nickname is Ellie (rhyming with belly). We also call her Elle (the letter L, like the magazine and Elle MacPherson). Eli, I would think is a boy's name and goes with EE-lie.

In the UK we generally do. Elle is a popular and modern way of spelling Ellie, though in french lessons we say it as in "L"
And I've only ever known Eli to be a nickname of Elliot, so I've known it said like Ellie, as in "el-lee"

I'm in England, and I've never heard that. I definitely prefer Elle as "L" : /

fair enough, it depends on the parents, and also where we live. I live in an area where Biblical names such as Elijah do not flourish, and the only Elle I ever met was said like Ellie. I also much prefer Elle as "L" but it's a habit now.
