How do you pronounce Adrienne?
Is it more Adree in or Adree an? Also, is Adrian pronounced the same way?

AY-dree-in. I say Adrian almost the same but with more of an -an sound at the end.

I pronounce it ay-dree-EN, generally, while I pronounce Adrian AY-dree-en. Different emphasis. However, I also know a girl named Adrienne who pronounces her name a-DREEN.

Adrian: AY-dreeyun.
Adrienne: AY-dree-en. More stress on the first syllable than the third, but the "en" comes out much more clearly and with more emphasis than the last syllable in Adrian.

like Rocky says itay-dree-en.I'd pronounce Adrienne and Adrian the same way, but Adrienne seems more female to me. while Adrian seems more suited for a male.Luxiana

In English it tends to be pronounced like Adrian. It's pronounced that way in The Calling's song which is my only point of reference - that and one of the women who appeared in "Frontier House" ages ago. I mean to say I don't know any Adrienne's personally.

AY-dree-en is how I say it, and I say Adrian the same way. However, I don't think that's the "correct" (traditional) pronunciation; I say it that way simply because there was an Adrienne in my year who pronounced her name as such, and she was my first exposure to it.Array
