I don't see anything wrong with Meave and Beatriz as simpling. I like both combos and they sound great together! I don't see anything wrong using names of two different ethnic backgrounds together. I think its more acceptable to use french names with Irish names because Irish names (especially w/ americanized spellings) are so "in" right now and many french names have already crossed over into normal english naming (ex: -ette names, Genevieve, etc). Also, in the US (where many of the posters are from) Spanish names are associated more with people of Mexican/Latino heritage as opposed to European Spanish heritage. Because Latin people are a different skin color, using names of this ethnicity on a white baby seems much more "extreme" to many people than using a french name on a white baby as far as naming outside of your own ethnicity goes. Personally, I could care less if you were 100% WASP and decided to name your children Hoshi and Mustafa, but that just my opinion.

There is no law that says you can't pair an Irish and Spanish name. If the child were a mix of both heritages I suppose it would be fitting. However, some of these names sound very ethnically Irish or Spanish and therefore sound better with other names of their ilk. Just my two cents.

I don't think it's wrong but to me it is like pairing Caytlyn with Henrietta ... it just looks oddBut if it doesn't bother you then go for it, it's just what other people will think Beatriz Rose and Maeve Elizabeth go beautifully imoAlice My favourite names are Henry Andersen, Isaac Atticus, Miller Gabriel, Freya Jasmine, Lily Philomel, Lyra Iris and Lark Beatrice

Nothing at all. "Eamonn de Valera" sounds gorgeous to me. I remember hearing Soledad O'Brien's name for the first time and thinking "Wow. What a great combo."My family is from Ireland and I've spent time there. It's not unusual for Irish parents to give their kids Spanish names. Imelda, Consolata, Dolores -- I've heard these. Perhaps it's the Catholic connection that makes it sound natural.

There isn't anything inherently "wrong" with pairing a Spanish and an Irish name together. The fact simply is that such names together can sound incongruous and a bit odd; a name like Asuncion Roisin or Pedro Patrick is a combination of names from very different spectrums.Beatriz Rose is a fine name. I think that Beatriz looks beautiful, and it has a sort of peachy golden sound to me when combined with Rose.Array
