both names are cute they dont sound that close...Leilani is a really cute name w/a cute spelling too

I don't think they're that close, but the first sounds very classic and strict and the second exotic and original, so yeah... I disliek all the nns except Lillie, but I would spell it Lily / Lili. Leilani is such a beautiful name, which shorten it? I think most nns (in general, not yours) sound artificial / silly anyway.

Yes! They are definitely too close for siblings!!! However, I like both names. I like Lillian better with a nickname of Lily (this spelling), but I prefer Leila as a nickname for Leilani.

Yes, I think they are too close for siblings, even with the nicknames, but I think nicknames should be left up to the child, not planned by the parent(s). I used to like Lillian, but not anymore (I prefer Lily), and Leilani is sloppy looking and sounding to me.

Lillian and Leilani sound very pretty together .. but Lillian is a bit too Old-English-Lady imo and I think Liliana or Lilia would go better with Leilani
