Alana/Alannah. How do you pronounce these two?
How do you pronounce these two names?
I've always pronounced Alana, a-LAWN-a. And pronounced Alannah, a-LAN-a (LAN like in the beginning of the word land). But I know some people pronounce them the same. And I've even heard them pronounced ALAN-a and a-LAYN-a.
I'm curious to see what the common pronunciations are.
Thanks,
Jamie

Well, I had a friend named Alana. She pronounced it a-LAN-a. I personally don't like the name, but the way it makes most sense to say it to me is a-LAN-a.
I prn. both like a-lah-na

a-LAWN-uh.
al-AN-uh
al-AN-uh
I pronounce them both Ah-LAH-nah. But I don't like the spelling "Alana" because without the extra "A" it's an anagram for "anal".
I say a-LAN_a for both

I pronounce them both the same way. But I don't pronounce it any of the 4 ways you have here. I, like 'Pink Princess' and 'Integrity', say a-LAH-na. The only other way I have heard it pronounced is a-LAN-a. There are so many ways to spell this name - Alana, Alanna, Alannah, Allana. But they are all pronounced the same. They are all feminine forms of Alan.
But there is also Alaina/Alayna which is pronounced a-LAY-na. Its the feminine form of Alain, which is the French form of Alan.

a = short A.
lah like la if singing (ie sound of music! do ra mi fa so la ti do).
na = like nup - the 'a' like but.
This is really according to australian english, though I am trying!
