Re: Nicknames for William

1. Do you think the name William will inevitabley be shortened Since the current trend seems to be towards giving little boys common names without nicknames or just nicknames, I'd say no. In fact, I'd much rather see a kid with a nickname. I'm sick of all the Jameses, Christophers, Roberts, and Michaels. Give me Jim, Chris/Christo, Bobby, and Mike/Mick/Mickey/Mikey/etc any day.
2. Do you like the nick names Will or Liam? No. I sort of like Will, since I love Will & Grace, but I think both are much too common and far too yuppie-ish for my tastes.
3. Do you think William is too formal? It reminds me a bit too much of William F. Buckley, Jr, if you consider him formal.
4. Apart from Will or Liam, can you think of any other nicknames. I much prefer Bill to either. While it sort of reminds me of Bill Lumbergh, I think it's a lot more interesting than hearing yet another kid named Will. Otherwise, I've always thought that Whim would be a neat nickname--the same way I like Cricket for Christopher.
5. Do you think William Christopher is a nice combo? It's safe. It's too drab for me, but I do like Christopher.
