Well, since it was my Grammy's name I have a soft spot for it & I love the nn Ali for a little girl.

Edit: And I wanted to add that we live in British Columbia, Canada right next to Alberta and her last name was Washington, which is the American State that borders our province - so I don't think having just Alberta is too placey!
