I pronounce it like Kate. It is my deceased mother's middle name and it's German with the two little dots above the "a". I'm not quite sure of the true pronunciation of it.

The German pronunciation is KEH-tuh (with a long "eh" sound). I think it's sweet :-)

Okay. It's really hard to describe the vowel sound considering I don't know what kind of accent you might have but it's somewhere between the a in Kate and the e in pet. I *believe* the final e would be pronounced also (it is in German words but names can be a little different) so it would be like kayteh or kehteh (second e like in egg). Anyways, how did your mother pronounce it? That's the pronunciation I'd use.

See I think I remember her saying it was pronounced KATH-uh... but it isn't a soft "th" sound, kind of like a "t" "th" sound.... I'm making no sense at all, sorry...
