that was inconclusive... pronunciation of Anouk again
Hi! Six kind, beautiful people responded to my post about the pronunciation of Anouk: ah-NOOK (nook rhyming with book, look, took, cook... NOT rhyming with the name Luke or fluke or juke as in jukebox) or ah-NUKE (nuke rhyming with Luke, fluke and juke). Three people said it was pronounced one way, and three said the other. I don't know what to think. In the movie Chocolat, the only time I've ever heard anyone say the name, it sounded to me like they were calling the little girl ah-NUKE. Hmmmm.

I've never met anyone with this name (and I don't care for it, never have for some reason). But I've always heard it pronounced ah-NOOK, rhymes book book and look (or nook, for that matter! lol).

Ditto, like in chocolat :)
In French it's ah-nook. :)
I pronounce it as Ah-NUKE. A classmate of mine is called Anouk.
I think that the even split means that both pronunciations are acceptable.
I've always pronunced it "ah-no-OOK" (with a tiny little "no" in it), but mind that I used pronunce the word "awry" as "AW-ree".
I'm not really trustworthy with pronunciations.
