I adore the name Xavier. I didn't used to, but it's really growing on me.
I love it; it's on my favourites list. I pronounce it za-VYAY (the French way), I've NEVER heard it pronouned Zay-vyer or whatever before; thats really strange ...

I don't like it because of the X and because it sounds like the word "savior". I say ZAYvyer, and I've heard zah-VYAY.

I don't care for the name - I don't like any X names. I don't like how they look. I pronounce it as X-zave-EE-err. You can click the name Xavier to find the meaning.
German singer Xavier Naidoo
Hey!
I'm from Germany and we have this well-known singer Xavier Naidoo who pronounces his own name like Savior just with an X. Xay-vee-ur.
But I heard it as Zay-vee-ur, too.
He's actually of Indian origin or something...
I really like that name a lot!

I Like it a lot.
I like it well enough, but I've met one who was really really awful. So I'd never use it
I love it!! I personally pronounce it ZAY-vee-ur, which is also how the only person I know with this name also pronounces it.
Xavier :-)
Uh, I don't really like this name. And it's pronounced ZAY-vee-ur (English), ZAY-vyur (English), ig-ZAY-vee-ur (English), za-VYAY (French) [key]. It's on this site. And it means Derived from the Basque place name Etxabier meaning "the new house". Saint Francis Xavier was the Jesuit priest who popularized the name. He was a missionary to India, Japan, China, and other areas in eastern Asia. He is the patron saint of the Orient and missionaries. If you want to find unformation on names such as what it means, then you should go to the Name Facts Board.
