My gg grandfather's name was Narcisse but he went by Nelson. I actually like Narcisse better than Nelson.
Echo for a girl is ok but a little corny i think.

I like Echo, I think it's cute. But Narcissus, makes me think of vain, self-obsessed people, since in Greek Mythology, Narcissus was a man who was so in love with himself, he sat in the woods, staring at his reflection, until he wasted away, eventually turning into a flower...

Narcissism means being totally self-obsessed and in love with yourself -- it's a pretty negative word. I personally wouldn't ever use either in real life, but it's an interesting thought.

I like Echo, it's a guilty pleasure. But I automatically think of someone with a large ego when I hear Narcissus.

I love the name Echo. Narcissus I would be put of by connotations.

I love Echo and would use it for a first name:)

I don't like Narcissus, but I love the Catalan form, Narcís (nuhr-SEES), it's one of my favourite names and I could use it.
It's quite popular here, even if not really among children, because it's the patron saint of Girona, and I live near there.

Both could be good middle names. I can't tell you if the association is too much, Narcís here is fairly "common", and people don't usually think about connotations.

I don't care for either names, but I don't associate it immediately with anything. I don't care for the names because Narcissus reminds me of narcotics and narcolepsy. I can only see Echo as a word, or as a name for a dolphin. If you must use the names, then I would suggest them only as middle names, as you said.
