Violet has always been one of my favorites, but since the Incredibles and Lemony Snicket both have Violets, I think you'll have to cross that one off your list. I had a baby girl shortly after the first Shrek movie came out and we had been planning to name her Fiona. After I saw the movie we changed our minds. I'm so glad we did even though I still think it's a lovely name.

The name Violet is pretty and not common.

I loved it for two years. It's just a tad weird, being delicate like the flower yet sounding sort of severe and mysterious. Then, I got on name boards and saw it everywhere -- alongside Ruby and Lily and Clara and Ava and Grace and various other revivals...Then, it showed up in two films almost simultaneously on young girl characters, both of whom are .. ::drumroll:: just a tad weird.I thought, this name is too fashionable.. I'd not use it. I still like it, anyway. - chazda

I like Violet a lot. It is very sweet, lovely and old fashioned. I think it would work best with a simple, common middle name like Elizabeth or Marie. Normally I wouldn't choose a filler middle name but Violet isn't that popular so there probably aren't that many Violet Marie's as compared to Lisa Marie's or Hannah Marie's.

I really like Violet but would probably never use it because I think it will shoot up in popularity.

I used to like Violet a lot and I don't know what happened but for some reason it lost most of it's appeal to me a couple years back. Not that I don't still consider it a lovely name. It is very pretty and distinguished. Even though I prefer Lily, I like Violet is less frilly sounding.

I really like it, but I prefer Viola (pron. VYE-uh-la).

I used to like it, but I no longer do. I guess I see the word violent when I see it. Anyway, I suggest Violet Nadine.

Violet is my favorite, but I change my mind a lot. I think it works well with a mn that starts with a vowel, like Violet Anne or Violet Olivia. Violet Marie isn't bad either.
