My cousin named her daughter Charla after her husband Charles (Chuck)and they call her Charlie sometimes. Her brother is named Charles but they call him Chip, like chip off the old block I guess. There is also the names Charlene Charlotte, Charlotta Charmain and Charmian (Char-mi-an).

I prefer Charlie for a boy, but it's cute for a girl, too. I knew a little girl named Charlee, and that was her full fn (not sure of her mn). I also like Charlotte, Caroline, and maybe even Charlize, and Charlie/Charli/Charlee as the nn. But if it's short for Charlotte, which I love, people might assume it's pronounced like SHAR-lee. Do you like Carly? That is a cute nn for Charlotte or Caroline as well.

I think most people would use Charlotte, nn Charli. Don't like Charli/Charlie on a girl myself, but I love Charlie for a boy. If you use it for a girl, I only like it without the e on the end.

I strongly strongly strongly dislike this name on a girl (love it ona boy) It may be my least favourite name.

I'm a Charlotte, and I could personally never pull of the nickname Charlie, it's just not me. I get called Char often enough which actually suits me. I've met people who could quite nicely, but I'm not one of them

I have personal issues with Charla, and Charlotta/Charlene I've always found to be somewhat ugly. Charlize is quite pretty, and though it's a copy of the actress I think it can have a direct link to Charlie.

Charlie's fine for a girl, but only as a nn. It sounds masculine and childish as a full given name.

I think Charlie is a good name for a girl too. But what about: Charline, Charlene, Charlotte, Charla...

I guess the most obvious name would be Charlotte. There's also Charlene and Charlize.

I think it's cute but I probably wouldn't shorten any of those.

Of all the potentials, I prefer Charlotte, but I think you could also get away with it for Charmaine (Shar-mane) and Charmian (shar-mee-an) if you wanted.

The only Charlie I know is Charlotte.

I love Charlie as a girl's name (love it as a boy's name too.) Not for a nickname, just Charlie.

I only see Charlie as a nickname for Charles - only for a boy. At least it wasn't Charlize. Anyway, I guess it could be a nickname for Charlotte, but I don't think nicknames should be planned, but left up to the child.
