This is my daughter Mia
You say: What a cute name!
You think: It's cute, but it's too popular.
This is my daughter Jocelyn
You say: Jocelyn's a nice, underused choice!
You think: Nothing, really. I'm apathetic toward Jocelyn. At least they spelled it right?
This is my daughter Aria
You say: That's very pretty.
You think: Pretty, but popular.
This is my daughter Phoebe
You say: Phoebe's a classic name.
You think: Phoebe looks extremely strange when spelled out, and it has such an ugly sound.
This is my daughter Neve
You say: That's nice.
You think: The name has a lovely meaning but a horrible sound.
This is my daughter Amara
You say: What a nice, underused name!
You think: What a nice, underused name!
This is my son Brendan
You say: I love that name; it has a great meaning!
You think: Okay, it's popular, but I still love it!
This is my son Dominic
You say: That's a great name.
You think: I love the name, but I hope he wasn't named simply because he parents became sudden fans of Lord of the Rings after watching the movies. And thank God they didn't spell it Dominick or Domenic! (I don't mind the Dominik spelling.)
This is my son Gavin
You say: Oh, that's nice.
You think: Gavin's are everywhere! And the name isn't even that great!
This is my son Rhys
You say: I like the name Rhys.
You think: Okay, it's trendy, but I still like Rhys. Plus, they spelled it right and used on a boy! Two bonus points!
This is my son Rory
You say: That's cute.
You think: What a tongue-twister! And can you really imagine a fifty-year-old Rory?
This is my son Sean
You say: That's a nice, classic name.
You think: That's a nice, classic name; one of my favorite forms of John.
Of course, I probably wouldn't say anything besides "nice to meet you" to any of these people. I don't usually comment on a name unless I really like it.

I absolutely love Mia, and I hate that its gotten so popular, but strangely I have yet to meet a single person named Mia. I will almost definitely be using it nonetheless.
I didn't realize Aria was all that popular, I haven't seen it much.
I wish Brendan wasn't quite so popular as well.
No, I did not start liking Dominic because of LOTR, nor Phoebe for Friends or Charmed.
I haven't really seen Gavin all that much, but I'm getting a little iffy about the name, although I used to love it.
I don't really see Rhys as trendy, I had never seen it till I met my friend by this name.
I'm not sure Rory will age well, but I do like it.
Sean is very popular and yet I love it anyhow.

I'm not even sure how Mia compares to Caitlan but okay, haha. Mia is absolutely my favorite, has been for a long time.
Actually I never really read Catcger in the Rye, started to, but never did. But no I did not get it from Friends or Charmed either.
I can't really think of any nicknames for Amara, its been growing on me lately though.
I actually like the nickname Dom, but I wouldn't call my son that unless he wanted to be.
The only reason I don't like Brendan is because its growing popularity and its similarity to Brandon, which I hate.
I pronounce Rhys like Chris without the C.
Rory is a boys name, but it does seem to be growing as a girls name. Its a shame.
Thanks for your input!
