I was looking at my birth certificate and noticed that my doctor was named Loren, which I've never really heard as a male name, nor spelled that way.

It also brought to mind the character on "Angel" named Lorne

I like them both on boys. I like Loren a little better than Lorne though, simply because it sounds softer.

Lorna's also lovely for a girl.

I love Lorne on either gender (probably more for a boy, and Lorna for a girl). Loren doesn't work on a boy imo.

I like both Loren and Lorne on a boy! I would be especially excited to see Loren on a boy, since it is rare as such these days because Lauren is so popular on girls.

They're nms for boys - Loren is too much like Lauren for me, and Lorne is more like a nn for Lorna (which I like).

They're not really my style either, I was just curious as to what everyone else thought of them. I've never much cared for Lauren and Loren is too similar. Lorne is a decent name, but not one I would use.

I like the name Loren on a boy, although I know a girl with that has her middle name (my second prat teacher's daugther was Breanna Loren).

I dont mind Lorne, makes me think of Lorne Michaels and therefore SNL.

Isla just mentioned Lorne Michaels as well, I had never heard of him beforehand. Out of the two names though I prefer Lorne.

I know a male Loren. I've also seen it spelled that way for girls, though. I think it started out as a nn for Lawrence, when used for boys.

Lorne on Angel is not the first. Never heard of Lorne Green or Lorne Michaels??

Actually I hadn't ever heard of Green or Michaels until you mentioned them. But nor was I suggesting that the character on Angel was the first, I happened to watch an episode last night on tv and therefore it reminded me.
