[Opinions] Kendra (popular?)
I heard this name (with it actually sticking in my head) this summer. I really liked it but when I checked the popularity, it was too popular for me to consider. However, no one really seems to mention it on boards, and I have only met one in my life. So to me, its not a popular name.
I checked the charts again. In 1990 it was 123 and in 2003 it was 261 or something like that, according to
www.sss.gov/babynames/index.html
How popular do you consider Kendra to be? How many do you know, how old are they? The girl I met around around the age of 10. I really hate popular names, but I guess I just dont consider it popular except for the websites that give it such a high ranking. But then again, I dont know too many younger kids.

It's just one of those names that's used 'regularly but quietly,' I think. Nice and familiar, but she's unlikely to meet others. I guess it's a little more popular than I'd like a name to be when I use it, but it's not likely to start skyrocketing in the next 5-10 years, I don't think.
Actually it's one of my personal favorites.. I mean real favorites, like top 10 or 15. And I like the fact that it doesn't scream, "White girl!!!!" the way most of my other faves seem to, as well.
The only Kendra I've ever met would be about 38 now.

I know at least 3 Kendras...
one is a 20 yr old college student
another 20 yr old college student
the other is a married (very) pregnant woman in her mid 20's
This name sounds to me like an name from African American heritage so it seems out of place on caucasians to me. It really doesn't seem to fit any of the 3 Kendras I know.
The name doesn't seem that popular around here but its not highly unusual; people aren't surprised to meet someone named Kendra.

I like the name, but don't really love it. I've only met one or two that I can remember, and they are probably in their early 20's now. It's not very common, but is recognizable. I work in a hospital nursery, and haven't seen any little Kendras in a while. I think it's safe. :)
This name is not popular at all. I know 2 Kendras, one is 10 and the other is 14.
i know one girl who is like 25 named Kendra and i dont think of it as popular at all
If its 261, its usable.
Any name that's a hundred or lower on the popularity charts is usable. Your chances of meeting one are very few.
As for the name, I don't really like it or dislike it. ITs not my style, but its not a name that I hear and cringe. I've known two. One was college age, the other is a baby. I knew someone named Kendra, but pro. it ken-draya.
