[Opinions] Not Scout again :-(
I'm sick to death of To Kill a Mockingbird name references. I understand that you might like Scout unrelated to the character from the book, and it's still okay if you like it because of the book, but to me personally that association is more wearisome than anything else. I think that book was so not special to such a great degree that I really have to hold back with my eye-rolling when people go into raptures about Scout or Atticus. Apart from that, it's too nicknamey for me in a generic 'term of endearment' way than I'd prefer to see used as a real name or a nickname that's meant to regularly take the place of a real name. Kind of like sweetie or peanut or kiddo, you know? Since it's so general, I could see it being used for someone of any name. If you wanted to use it as a sort of 'full time' nickname for someone, I think any name starting with an S would fit well enough. Scout's just a general word that I don't think needs a solidly 'legitimate' connection to a name, etymologically or even superficially.
