I believe that "Thandiwe" is pronouced "Tandy."

I live in South Africa where this name is rather common. It is pronounced Tun-dee-wea(r) (without the 'r' but just to give you an idea of the sound).

Thanks for the link to the interview. I always liked her as an actress, but knowing her background is interesting.
While the name Thandiwe doesn't do much for me, her character's name in "Besieged" has haunted me: Shandurai (sp?). What a gorgeous name. Do you know if I got the spelling correct? In the movie it was pronounced, "SHAN-dur-eye."

I just looked it up on imdb.com and you did indeed spell her character's name correctly. I never saw the movie, but the name Shandurai strikes a chord with me, also. Truly haunting.
