I am reading a book now that has a reference to Vedetta. I think it is a mountainous region in Italy, also a German ship during World War II was named Vedetta. The "e" at the end of a German name/word is sometimes pronounced "a". In the book I am reading it refers to either a battle or a ski hill, it's not clear. The name is engraved on a pair of soldiers downhill skis in the book. Maybe it's an Italian/German hybrid of a name. Good luck
Very close to "vendetta", which is Italian for revenge, vengeance, or something similar. I always thought "Vendetta" would be a great name for a crack ho'...
(Hugh Grant or Charlie Sheen may be able to tell us if it's already in use.) : )

Yeah Darla,
It does mean that, and many years ago it was a model of French Ford car (when there were French Fords), but it also means a "star" as in "Hollywood star". Much cooler meaning...

I found the same meaning as Davidh in my baby book of names. Not only is it the French name meaning "Movies Star" (which is pretty cool if you ask me) but it also means "scout" or "sentry" in Italian. FYI: A sentry or a scout is a soldier put on "lookout" duty and alerts everyone if and when an enemy attacks.
