WDYT of this name? Pron. Car-leen. I am looking for a formal name for Carly but my husband doesn't like Charlotte and I'm not a fan of Caroline due to bad association.

Carline looks like it would be pronounced CAR-lin, IMO. I know a Carleen, and I think that spelling better reflects the pronunciation you want. As for the name itself, I think it's ok, but not great. It could definitely work as a full name for Carly, though.

It's okay. I'd spell it Carlene, so people wouldn't think it was pronounced Car Line. There's Carlene Carter, if you wanted it to have a precedent.

Other names you could use Carly as a nn for: (Even though it stands on its own pretty well, as Carly Simon will tell you)

Carlotta, Carla, Carmella? Scarlett?
