After three years of trying to concieve our attention was drawn to an adoption agency and to one special 11-year-old boy. Leon is from Nicaragua, he has brown hair and brown eyes and his skin is a little darker than ours. He was the only child of an abusive alcholic father and a mother who commited suicide just last year. When he fist came to live with us, six months ago, Leon was a little afraid of James whenever he would raise his voice for anything, he had physical and emotional scars that needed to heal and trust that needed to be built with us before he felt completely at ease. He seems to love having a little brother and we have found that he excells in school and is very good at most sports.
James's sister Moira is still staying with us as she is going back to school and has a been a huge help with the children, she and Leon love playing football (soccer) together in our spacious back yard. The house is a tad crowded but we love it and are planning on building an addition to our house that will have a couple more bedrooms and a larger family room!
Meggie and Elisa just started school this past fall and are really enjoying making new friends and learning. They are currently practicing their parts for a Christmas play at school where Meggie is to star as an angel and Elisa as an elf!
Tamsin, now three, is learning his alphabet and loves his new brother Leon. He really likes playing with trucks and ball. He is so full of energy and can sometimes get into mischief but is usually good.
James continues with the same doctor's office as an optician and is making very good money and loves helping people see. His office recently added 40 new patients to their practice and that allowed for a bit of a raise in his pay.
Helena spends her days getting the older children off to school, caring for the house, and she not only takes care of Tamsin during the day but two other children (Ellen & Liam), under school age, while their single mother works. Helena's days are very full as after school is finished for the day she watches the same single mother's two older children (Molly & Patick) until she gets off work. Helena also is taking an art class at a local school and really enjoying it!
