[Opinions] Gladys

This name is alright as I also remember my own grandparents when I see this name. However, just imagining a little girl introducing herself as Gladys maked it more endearing to me.
It's not a name I'm personally fond of, but I still find it refreshing and would be very happy to meet a little girl with this name. :)
Personally I think it would be a wonderful idea to name your daughter Gladys after her great-grandmother.
However, Gladys is probably not quite ready for a comeback with the general population, precisely because it's a name common in your own grandmothers' generation. Usually it is the names of the great-grandmothers of the young parental generation that are likely to "come back". When most people remember several former elderly bearers of a name, it tends to still sound "old and ugly" to them. It's only when most young parents never knew the previous generation when the name was popular, because most of them had died by the time they were 10 years old or so, that a name can "come back" strongly. So you would be ahead of your time to use it.

Sorry - but I do see it as very old ladyish.
it's my grandmother's name too. but it does feel rather old-fashioned and dated to me.
she has such a sweet and fiesty personality. I also thought of honoring her in some way but I had trouble finding any variants that I liked. Claudia and Claudette are pretty but seem too far removed from Gladys. my grandfather calls her Glady or Gladiola. Gladiola is cute.

I understand the namesake, so that's one thing. But I do find it dated and old ish. Perhaps a variant? I dunno what, but maybe! LoL.. Either way, if you want to honor her, why not? :)

I do find it dated, and its one that I DO NOT want to see make a comeback. Its my grandmother's name, and lets just say not a woman anyone would want to name a child after.

Personally, I find it dated, but I think that it might be so old-fashioned that it could work in a comeback. Like Ethel and Win.
