Honestly I think it sounds very trashy and low-class. It always reminded me of a stripper name.

It's a very trashy, low-class name in my mind. Definitely on the same page as things like Nevaeh, Trinity and Alexia.

I really can't help but think of an exotic dancer when I hear this name...

I don't like it at all. First of all, destiny as a word is not necessarily a positive name. Your destiny can be bad as well as good. Just like fate.
Second of all, I think the name itself is trashy with a capital T. I always associate it with dirty little kids living ina trailer park on the wrong side of the tracks whose mother (and father or mom's latest Flavor of the Week) let her eat chips and soda for every meal and let her run around outdoors half-dressed in the middle of winter, and she's always got a nose running green and has never gotten the idea of using a tissue. I'm sorry, I know that's mean, but it's from personal experience.
ANd on a grown-up, it's very mucha stripper name. I posted some while back some magazine's informal list of top ten stripper names, and Destiny was right up there.

I really don't like Destiny. Although I don't think it's veyr popular (I don't know any Destinys), it just sounds trashy to me.

I do not have any mn suggestions. In general, I don't like names like Destiny. I used to know a baby named Essence, and it not only put me off, but creeped me out a little bit. I mean, it is a little gross to see a 4 year old with the name Essence, but maybe I was just looking into it too much (but isn't that what you are supposed to do with a name anyway?). So, I would have to say, go with your initial reaction and never use it.

I really don't like it. It is trendy and trashy IMO. Besides, it would be a worry of I liked it considering I don't believe in destiny :p
