I absolutely LOVE the name Jonas. It was top on my boy-name list through two pregnancies (both girls). It's almost Biblical (Jonah) with a more respectable, grown-up feel. I don't think so much of a sea captain, but the rest of your description is like mine. I think of a very strong, dependable guy who's in his early forties but with the health and vigor of someone much younger. He loves canoeing, fishing, building log cabins, and mending fences on his horse farm. He works very hard, has no real vices, and wouldn't dream of cheating on a business deal or playing hookey from his park ranger job. He has a slight granola look about him, but more Sierra Club/Nature Conservancy and no pot-smoking EarthFirst stuff.
