[Opinions] Will or Rowan?
Hi! My baby boy is due soon and we can't decide between Will and Rowan. Which do you prefer? What's your opinion on the two names? Thanks!!

Love them bothbut I'd have to say Rowan (its my number 4 boys name & my number 2 girls name I love it so much). Although my usuage (& others) of its as a unisex name is something to consider, it doesn't bother me in the least but it may affect your decision.

Thank you so much for your input. This is really helpful. It's so hard to decide. Anymore comments are truly welcome!!

Both names are nice and I actually quite like the combo Will Rowan. If I was going to pick just one of them, then I'd go with Rowan.

Definitely Rowan. Will 'will' often hear "Is it short for William?" and there are far too many Williams (and therefore, too many Wills) already. Then there's the word name issue. 'Will he or won't he?' And then there's Willy. :-/
Rowan's fabulous, and not overused.

Definitely Will. I personally prefer it as a NN for William, but it's not too bad on its own. I only like Rowan for a girl...more of a GP, but still, it's nmsaa on a boy.

I prefer William nn Will over Will, but Will is ok. William and Will seem overused and boring though. I would go with Rowan myself.

I dont like Will as a full name, so if its Will and not William, I hate to say it but I think I would go with Rowan. But I really loathe Rowan to (at least its not for a girl). William nn Will would be great though~~Kris~~

Rowan because it's something new and different

Well, if it was William, I'd say that. But Will is just a nickname to me. So I guess I'd ahve to go with Rowan, which I don't like.

I think both names are nice, Will being short and spunky and Rowan being more of a "nature" name. I really like Rowan, although I prefer it on a girl I see this name as one of the few totally unisex name, no more male than female.

Will. Most people i think would say that you should probably use William instead, but i think Will can work on it's own, and it's usual which i always see as a bonus. Plus i don't like Rowan due to somebody i know.:Marie:.

Eeeh- I'll have to say Rowan. Though I love Will too. What about Rowan William?

I think I prefer Will, especially if it's a nickname for William. Rowan is nice too, but I just love the timelessness of Will. :)
Just a dream, just an ordinary dream...
as I wake in bed...
and the boy, that boy, that ordinary boy
or was it all in my head?
Did he ask if I would come along?
It all seemed so real.
But as I looked to the door
I saw that boy looking there with a deal.

They're both very lovely. It's a tough, tough call, but I think I prefer Will just a tiny bit, perhaps because I really love the association to the word "will" (even though that's not where the name is derived from). I really like Rowan, too, though, so either would be more than fine with me. Will and Rowan would make a perfect sib set, BTW, and a fantastic combo, too. Will Rowan as a FN & MN combo would be utterly gorgeous, too.

Sorry, this was meant to reply to the OP.If it was William, I'd pick that in a heartbeat. I don't like just Will.I don't really like Rowan though, so I think I'd still choose Will.

I prefer Will as a nickname for William. Like someone else suggested, William Rowan would be nice. But between just 'Will' and Rowan, I would go with Rowan.

I like both names alot...IMO Will is a more fun and friendly name whereas Rowan is a little more serious and "proper".Would Will be a nn? Like for William? In which case, why not use them both? William Rowan?

Rowan gets my vote, because Rowan is much more interesting and less "boring" to me than Will. In fact, Rowan is one of my favorites for a boy!
