Message: "Flora" - Behind the Name

What do you think of the name Flora? I've recently got it stuck in my head and am really starting to like it.

Also, regardless if you like Rowan for a girl or not, do you think Flora and Rowan would make a good sib set? Or is the pairing too obvious? Which set do you like beter:

My sisters name is Marlene Faye Flora. I think it's a nice name, she got it for the meaning and to honour her dad, Florian.

I see Rowan as a girls name. I think the sibset would be nice, I don't see what would be wrong with it, except that their names would mean "little red flower" together.

I love Flora, but I doubt I'll ever use it because (being a nurse) it brings to mind bacterial flora, and seems like it would possibly be teased. I don't think the "theme" using Rowan/Flora or Rowan/Laurel is overly cutesy, it's just subtle enough. Not like using Lily & Daisy for sisters, for example. However, Rowan is unisex and more modern sounding for a girl while Flora is very feminine and old-fashioned, so the two don't 'match' terribly well, imo. But Rowan and Laurel are fine, since Laurel isn't as "feminine" sounding as Flora. Does that make sense?

I love the name Flora, but I'm not sure if I like Flora and Rowan as a sibset. Flora has that old-fashioned appeal and Rowan is definately more modern.

I think having a "boyish" name paired with a floral girly name for sisters feels a little off balance to me. Also, Flora is not my style but I LOVE Fiona which has a similar feel. WDYT of Fiona? Fiona and Rowan seem to suit well for some reason.

I dont care for Flora and would pick Laurel. I love Rowan on a girl and I love Rowan and Laurel together.
