[Opinions] Re: BA's in Australia
in reply to a message by brydz
A lot of them are rather ho-hum.Archie James - Archie is cute and it's growing on me. It seems to be screaming out for a more complete version, but I can understand why you might not want to harness your child with Archibald, which is so stodgy and heavy. Athan James - Here's one that goes into the random meaningless names created from trendy sounds category.Bailey Timothy (Amelia) - The parents did a lovely job naming Bailey's older sister, but just couldn't keep the momentum going. Besides being trendy Bailey has always seemed like a dog name to me.Cameron Jacob (Zadhiya) - I really like Cameron on a boy, spelled right. Looks a little strange next to his sister? Brother? I hope this one has ethnic meaning.Clancy Ian - Clancy and Bailey could be in the same obedience class . . .Elliot Joel - Nice to see an Elliot. I personally prefer Elliot, but for some reason the two Ls are more important than the two Ts.Ereatara Grant - A bad enough choice for a girl, but this poor kid's really going to have problems!Henry Maxwell - Love it.Jack Riley Matthew (Chelsea, Madeleine, and Lilly) - This family gets credit for using Jack instead of Jackson, Riley on a boy, and for having four kids where the most egregious standard spelling deviation is the acceptable Lilly. Applause!Jaxson Daniel - As if Jackson wasn't bad enough. Even Jaxon would have been better. Jaxson is just redundant, because the X already makes the cks sound. Jonty James (Fletcher Lachlan) - Why is everyone's middle name James? I'd much prefer Jonathan to Jonty, which just sounds like the adjective to me, and a rather funny and archaic one at that.Kieran Aidan (Kiara) - A nice name by itself, but waay too close to big sister's! What were they thinking?Mason Charles - Another "what were they thinking?" Far too close to Charles Manson.Oliver James - Like the Phelps twins?Riley Maurice - Great to see Riley on a boy. A little funny paired with the dated Maurice, though.Sabastian Rocco - If you must use Sebastian (which I think is pretentious, too long, and has no good nicknames), at least spell it right.Terence Patrick David Capability - I love Terence, and Patrick and David are both great names. But Terence Patrick David Capability? I'm laughing, and so will Terence's friends at school when they find out his third middle name.Tyson Matthew - Reminds me of chicken and Mike Tyson. Neither are good associations.*********************Amabel Clementine (Clover) - I like Amabel, but Amabel and Clover is a terrible sibset. Amabel and Clover sound like happy smiling dairy cows with cute little bells around their necks . . .Ashley Francis - Ashley is fine. I cringe to see this spelling of Frances on a girl. That just looks ignorant to me.Callia Sienna - I like Callie as a nickname for Callista, but Callia just sounds awkward, especially with a middle name which also ends in A.Charlize Hunter / Charlize Maree - Charlize is too tied to a particular person and has got to be the most unattractive Char- name in existence.Charlotte Grace - Not terribly original, but sweet and classic.Eliza Jane - I like Eliza. In fact, I've a got a friend in Baltimore . . . Eloise Grace - Lovely. If only people could be more original in their middle name choices.Liana Catherine - Love it. Somehow, Leeanna seems dated but Liana is fresh and underused.Marlow Rose - Not another random surname as a girl's personal name . . .Pippa Eyton / Pippa Rose - Pippa just has an annoying sound. It also reminds me of fruit pits.Rhilea / Rhylee - Ouch.Savannah - Okay, I admit it. I really like Savannah. It has such a rich sound, and it's sweet.Sienna Maree - Sienna Marie would have been much better. Sienna's another guilty pleasure of mine.
