[Opinions] Avalon
WDYTO Avalon for a girl? I've been interested in Arthurian legends way before the movies of recent years and liked many of the names from the stories. Just wondering how it sounds to others.

To me, it sounds a little too mythical/fanciful - I've known forever that Avalon is along the same lines as Nirvana, Paradise, Heaven, Elysia, and it's not what I consider namey.. it's vaguely brand-name-y to me, also, I think because of the -lon ending like Revlon. Sorry - not to be harsh but it's just not my style.

Hey, honesty is what I'm looking for!
I get as much info from the negatives as the positives. I also feel that that it's much like Nirvana, Elysia and the like; I just thought it was less well known and possibly a decent name.
Believe me, I'm more upset that all my real life friends HATE HATE HATE Cordelia! It made my little feelings hurt . Okay, maybe really only a little , but it did make me wonder what was wrong with my naming sensiblities compared to theirs!

I like it a lot. I would even use it myself if only it didn't have the overly popular "Ava" in it.
I like it! Unconventional but not too out there...
Someone else who loves Avalon! I always liked the name, but I've been reading more about the Arthurian legends recently, especially the Celtic faith side of it. They had a beautiful way of looking at the world, and that shifted Avalon higher on the favourites list for me. I think it could work well on a boy too.
