I think it is a good nickname but I wouldn't use it as an actual first name. It's cute for a little girl but the girl will grow up to be a woman...A 40 year old Tillie? I don't know...

I can see a 40 year old Tillie. But I hope she has Matilda (or other formal name) on her business cards / office front door.

I can even see an 80 year old Tillie. But again, as a nn only.
