Sorry, but can someone please tell me wot on earth create-a-family is?

A CAF is where the host gives you guidelines or a namebank, and you, well, create-a-family out of it. DH is dear/darling husband. DW is dear/darling wife. DD is dear/darling daughter. DS is dear/darling son. DD/DD are girl twins, and so on.
An initial CAF looks like this:
DH: IG
DW: EQ
DD: TN
DS/DS: OW
DD: NT
A CAF with a namebank looks like this:
DH:
DW:
DD:
DS/DS:
DD:
Boys:
Alexander, Micah, William, Milo, Morgan, James
Girls:
Lily, Rosalie, Vera, Bronwyn, Isolde, Lisa
And the list goes on and on.

Ok thanks, I understand about the initial things, but what do IG, EQ, TN, OW and NT stand for?
And where does the list of names come from?
And once you've got a bank or wotever set up, what do you have to do?

The namebank is usually whatever the creator picks for people to use. In the initial CAF - the letters beside each person stand for the person's initials.
When someone sets up a CAF, people respond with the family they have created.
so.. If I create a CAF with Initials, like this:
DH: J D
DW: K I
DS: L I
Players would respond with any names they like, as long as they start with those initials.
A sample answer would be:
DH: Jesse Donald
DW: Kiera Isabel
DS: Lawrence Isaac
and... If someone sets up a CAF with choices, like this:
DH:
DW:
DS:
Boy Names: Joshua, Dillon, Lester, Isaac, Joseph, Michael, Frank, Peter
Girl Names: Kelsey, Imogen, Ingrid, Catherine, Lilith, Daphne
Players would respond with names in any order they like, as long as they come from the namebank.

DH: Michael Frank
DW: Ingrid Lilith
DS: Joseph Dillon

It's in the rules. If not, the mods won't be too happy with you.
They stand for the initials. So, if the daughter got the initials OM, you would have to name her names starting with OM, like Olivia Marisol.

I'm still the same person, still the same account and username, just that I only just discovered the ability to change the display names and signatures.
Will i get in trouble for that?

If you keep changing your display name, yes, you will get in trouble. Your display name and username don't have to match, but if you want to post as Amber Scarlett Rose Violet instead of eva_name_freak, you need to let the mods know that you're changing it, and you need to stick to ONE name, whichever one you choose.
