Love Leda
I like it, but the Greek mythology behind the name is not so great.
I really enjoy Leda! I pronounce it almost the same way as I pronounce Lita, except when I look at Lita I want to use a hard-T, which is how it's supposed to be said but is not automatic for my accent. So Leda is more intuitive for me.However, the classic pronunciation is apparently LAY-duh, which I honestly think is prettier (like Veda); but it's not intuitive when I read it.
She was Helen of Troy's mother, having been raped by Zeus in the form of a swan. Not a burden I would like to bear.
Don't like it at all
Two syllable "L" names ending in "a" are quite popular now (eg. Lana, Lara, Leila, Layla, Leah, Lena, Lila, Lola, Luna, Lyra etc...). Leda is part of this trend but she's not as well known as the others I mentioned. I would say Leda is an undiscovered gem at present. How long that lasts is anyone's guess. I like the name - it sounds and looks nice. The meaning is unknown and the Greek mythological story is a bit strange but it's not a deal breaker. Pronunciation may be an issue as "LEE-da", "LEH-da" and "LAY-da" are all acceptable. If someone loves a name, they shouldn't worry about that either.
I hope Leda catches on because it’s lovely!
I really really like it. I was thinking about it a lot a few months ago. Problem is, when I googled it, it has some fairly disturbing connotations in Greek mythology that I just can't 100% get past.
I like it, it's short and sweet
It’s pretty! It’s simple yet uncommon.
